I take an integrative approach to therapy, which means I incorporate aspects of various therapeutic models to help my clients. Rather than working with everyone in the same way, I view my clients as individuals and therefore use therapeutic approaches that are best suited to the individual. Irrespective of the modality used, my approach is strengths-based, which recognises and emphasises the client’s natural abilities and resilience as central to their progress in therapy. I believe therapy is not just about focusing on what's wrong with you. It's also about discovering what's right with you - and harnessing those qualities to help you overcome your difficulties so that you can move in the direction you prefer to go.
If you are a new client, please arrive 15 minutes before your appointment to complete the necessary paperwork before the session starts. The therapy process generally commences with an assessment phase of approximately two to three sessions where your current difficulties are explored and a personal history taken in order to gain a better understanding of your life experiences. This phase also provides us with the opportunity to mutually determine whether we are a good fit or whether other options might be better suited to your needs. Once this phase is concluded and we both agree to proceed with the therapy phase, therapeutic goals and approaches are discussed, in keeping with your specific needs and preferences. Sessions are conducted in-person and normally last for 50 minutes, unless otherwise indicated. Online appointments are only available to existing clients, depending on the issue being addressed and type of therapy being used. First time clients are seen face-to-face first before online options can be considered.
